First Ever HWA Evo Mercedes 190E Up for Auction
You might not have heard of Hans Werner Aufrecht, a German engineer and businessman, but you are certainly familiar with his work. Aufrecht is the co-founder of AMG, an independent engine and tuning company that developed upgrade packages for various Mercedes models before being acquired by the automaker.
Last year, Aufrecht announced that his company HWA is developing restomod versions of the Mercedes 190E, inspired by the iconic 190E 2.5-16 Evo II. Now, you have the chance to buy the very first one ever made – if you have enough money, of course.
Chassis 000 Up for Auction
The first produced HWA Evo, chassis 000, is going up for auction at RM Sotheby’s in Tegernsee on July 27th, and it is expected to fetch a high price.
HWA is producing only 100 of these Evo restomods, but all 100 units have already been allocated. Chassis 000 is now your only chance to get one, and it will likely cost significantly more than the $775,953 HWA is asking for each of the other 100 cars.
Expertise in Racing Cars
HWA has been producing racing cars for Mercedes for decades, so Aufrecht knows a thing or two about making them faster and more efficient. Although this Evo lacks the visual charm of the original 190E 2.5-16 Evo II, with its more modern look and contemporary twin-turbo Mercedes engine, the results are impressive. It’s no wonder that 100 wealthy individuals have already ordered theirs. If you are one of those who missed the chance to grab it the first time, RM Sotheby’s is giving you a second chance.
