For almost a century, Mercedes-Benz has produced some of the most popular luxury cars on the planet. Known for its attention to detail, precision engineering and throaty engine sounds, the German brand is one of the most recognizable names in the industry. In an effort to keep up with the times, Mercedes began ditching those throaty engine sounds for the silence of an all-electric powertrain, and the Mercedes EQE was born in 2023 as a mid-size electric sedan.
The Mercedes-AMG EQE’s younger brother, the non-AMG variant is a luxury sedan that should compete with some of the biggest names on the market. A bit of a newcomer to the EV space after only debuting last year, the 2024 Mercedes EQE is new and improved, and still offers the same level of performance and luxury that fans have come to know and love. But how does it stand up to its competition in the increasingly crowded luxury EV space? 2024 Mercedes EQE Model Mercedes EQE Engine Single or double electric motors Transfer Single speed automatic Horsepower 288-402 hp Torque 417-633 LB-FT powertrain RWD or AWD Span 277-298 miles Charging time 10.5 hours at 9.6 kW 0-60 MPH 6.2-4.5 seconds MSRP $74,900 – $85,900 Avg Up to 402 horsepower Rear and all-wheel drive powertrains available Lots of options and extras available Luxurious interior full of technology Against The exterior style is not to everyone’s liking Steering seems to lose at higher speeds The Mercedes EQE hit the streets last year in its first model year, and the company has made a number of improvements for the 2024 models.
This year, Mercedes fixed some issues with the electric sedan’s braking system and made some changes to the system 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD) to get a little more range. A heat pump is also added to all trims as a standard option, allowing the car to perform better in cold weather by harnessing the power of excess heat from the EV.
